Murder in the Belltower (A Miss Underhay Mystery Book 5)

1st February 2021

Winter, 1933. Kitty Underhay is enjoying a restorative break from sleuthing on a visit to her family at Enderley Hall. The only thing marring her peace – aside from the uncomfortable sensation she has of being watched – is the obvious history between her beau, ex-army captain Matthew Bryant and another guest, the beautiful Juliet Vanderstafen. So, when the parish clerk is found dead on her front doorstep, Kitty leaps at the chance of distraction.

The police are happy to conclude that Miss Plenderleith met her unfortunate end on a patch of ice, but Kitty isn’t convinced this was a case of bad weather and worse luck. And when the Reverend Crabtree fails to show for tea the next day, she heads to the church to speak to him. But she arrives to find the clergyman hanging from the bell rope, dead.

With Matt seemingly wrapped up with his alluring Austrian, Kitty must solve the case on her own. But as she snoops into parish affairs, she makes some less-than-saintly discoveries. Just who has broken the sixth commandment? Meanwhile the killer is preparing a churchyard grave for Kitty, and she’ll have to use all her wits to avoid falling in…

This is one of my favourite cozy mystery series! I’m so please Miss Underhay is continuing with her adventures and Helena Dixon has a real gift for writing fantastic mysteries!

Murder on a Midnight Clear

Sara Rosett

A snowbound country mansion, a missing butler, and a Christmas case . . .

Olive and Jasper have never been closer—except in one area. Jasper is still reticent about his frequent disappearances from polite society. With the holidays approaching and no paying client on the books, Olive decides to shadow Jasper when he’s unexpectedly called away. Her search brings her to Holly Hill Lodge where an eclectic group has gathered to celebrate an old-fashioned English Christmas.

The guest list includes a celebrated lawn tennis champion, a fussy scientist studying snowflakes, a persuasive luggage salesman, a famous lady explorer, and the family’s eccentric aunt who has a fondness for the newfangled drinks called cocktails.

When the butler goes missing, Olive and Jasper must work together to solve the Christmas crime—as well as the secret Jasper hides. Murder on a Midnight Clear is the latest installment in USA Today bestselling author Sara Rosett’s popular High Society Lady Detective series.

Unwrap this 1920s Christmas mystery with all the trimmings—carols, a Yule log, plum pudding . . . and murder.

I’m a real fan of the audiobooks of these stories. They’re narrated brilliantly and I’ve become slightly addicted! Sara’s writing is fabulous and Olive is a brilliantly plucky sleuth!

Murder in the Churchyard (A Tommy & Evelyn Christie Mystery Book 3)

Catherine Coles

22 January 2021

Downton Abbey crossed with Murder, She Wrote…set in a Yorkshire village!

When the body of Isolde Newley’s long lost husband is found in the grounds of St Augustus churchyard, suspicion falls on Isolde and everyone close to her – especially her new love interest, the dashing Dr Mainwaring.

The mystery is exacerbated by the largest snowfall seen in North Yorkshire for years. No one can get in – or out – of the village.

It will take all of Tommy & Evelyn Christie’s sleuthing powers to clear their friends and find the murderer before the police arrive from York.

This is another fave series of mine and one I turn to when I need a pick me up! This next instalment is sure to pick you up after the longest month of the year!
